1990: Walter, known as “W” (Samuel Benito), Ben (Andrew Porfitz) and Nik (Simon Fabian), three 17-year-old nerds from the West German provinces, are certain: “Nothing works for us.” Until a Cadillac full of black GIs from the nearby US base turns the corner and a hip-hop beat booming out of the speakers changes their lives forever. The three of them only want one thing: to rap. Because their school English isn’t good enough for brilliant rhymes, they take a roundabout route to German rap and find their own language. As they confront outdated traditions and long-kept family secrets, they gradually come closer not only to themselves, but also to the big stage.
