ELJA 376 A.D.
30 Min (GER) 2016 – 5.1
The summer of 376 A.D. The Balkan region. The Gothic warrior Elja was forced by the threat of the enemy Huns to leave her homeland with her clan and flee to the Roman Empire.
Here she now waits in a border camp for orders and supplies from the Roman authorities. Despite the language barrier, Elja tries to understand the Romans’ obscure plans. Reluctantly, she has to hand in her weapons and the army commander Cossus tells her that, as a woman, she will never be recognized as a warrior in Rome. She finds herself helplessly at the mercy of her supposed ally and its laws. Why is she being treated like a prisoner of war? Why is she not allowed to move on with her clan? What happens when the Huns reach the camp?
The Gothic faith – and thus increasingly Elja’s entire identity – is also put to the test. When Cossus unexpectedly summons the Gothic leaders to his tent, tempers and events come to a head.
